General Board Meeting Minutes: May 1, 2015
North Country Arts: Youth Visions – A High School Juried Art Exhibit, will be held May 1st – May 24th at the North Country Arts Studio in Chestertown, open Saturday and Sunday11AM – 5PM. If you haven’t checked out this great local gallery, do so for this event!!!
Car Hop: First Car Hop of the Year: May 8th – 5PM at the Panther Mt. Inn. Businesses are asked to donate trophies ($40 – just get your check to Donnie) for the 5 shows scheduled for this year. Additional help is also need to sell 50/50 raffle tickets each evening if you can help out once or twice!
Carol Theater: Not Too Far From Home Comedy Show starring Moody McCarthy (Late Show with Letterman, America’s Got Talent & Last Comic Standing) Aaron David Ward (World Series of Comedy) and Dan Geurin (Funny Bones, Comedy Works) on Saturday May 9th, 7PM at the Carol Theatre to Benefit NW Central School’s Performing Arts Club! Tickets $20.Come out and support your community! For info or tickets call Al at #494-5318.
National Topless Day for Jeeps: May 16th at the Tin TeePee – Registration at 10AM. There will be passenger rides available and over $6,000 worth of raffle prizes! Free rides and BBQ for all Veterans! Proceeds will benefit area food pantry.
ATV Ride: May 30th starting at the Tin TeePee at 10 AM followed by cookout at 5. Donations for door prizes for both events that day are needed so let us know if you can help! Proceeds will benefit new Electric Sign fund (for in front of the NW Chamber building). Again, help is needed to make this event go smoothly so volunteer a few hours if you can!
Craft Brew Fest: May 30th at the Hub in Brant Lake. 5 PM – 8 PM – $25 admission to benefit new Electric Sign. Saratoga Brewery coming plus others!
Electric Sign: F red will be presenting the new location to the Chester Town Board this week and Garnet Signs will be providing a new design that is just two sided and not in a “V” shape.
Rack Cards: Rack Cards are IN with TLBA and other town events on one side and Carol Theatre performances on the other have been ordered. These will fit in the bill folders used at restaurants, and rack card holders were also purchased for businesses to put by their cash registers. We hope all business will help distribute these throughout the year to let our visitors know what events are planned for 2015.
Adirondack Woof Stock: June 20-21. Any business wanting to be a Woof Stock T-shirt sponsor for $100 please contact Angie ([email protected]) by May 8th. A reminder that this is a Family Event – it’s not a “WOOD” Stock festival – it’s an Adirondack “WOOF” Stock….There will be children’s activities, great food and the musicians that play at the Farmer’s Market (not muddy rock bands and hippies)….. The Dock Diving, Disc Throwing and Agility/Lure course will be fun for everyone to watch, or let their dog participate. North Shore Animal League & Adirondack Save-A-Stray will have +/-50 needy dogs up for adoption…next meeting is Wednesday May 6th, 5 PM at the Panther Mt. Inn and anyone willing to help is welcome. We need an idea for something appropriate for Father’s Day (June 21) so ideas are appreciated and we still have room for vendors so anyone interested contact Cindy at [email protected].
Golf Outing: The annual Golf Outing to benefit the TBLA will be held Friday October 2nd at Cronins. 1PM start with dinner afterward. Anyone willing to help with this please call Doug O’Brien @ #494-4565 or email [email protected]
Service Signs: There are new service signs marking Gas, Lodging, etc going up on the Northway – not sure if it was all the TLBA’s doing but Don has been working on this for years and we like to think the squeaky wheel finally got some grease!
Farmers Market: Opening day will be June 17 at 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
North Warren Chamber has decided to go with a Sportsman’s Weekend this fall. First meeting will be at The Crossroads on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6PM. Anyone willing to help with this event please call the Chamber!
North Warren School Budget: Peg Brady explained the upcoming budget. Suicide and prescription drug use have become a county wide epidemic, and the hiring of a new, licensed clinical social worker for NW is a great move forward for our school, as well as additional tech staff for the ever evolving computer revolution.
