Adirondack Shin-Dig: Saturday August 13th – 3rd Annual! This group has put together enough monies to rehab the 1881 Adirondack Church to become the Horicon Museum Annex!!! The Shin-Dig is a community based event with bands, food and vendors where they close the streets for dancing and socializing! During the day, stop by the 17th Annual Adirondack Yard Sale for some great deals! Yard Sale 9AM – 2PM. Shin-Dig 5PM – 8PM.
Carol Theatre: August 12th – 8:30PM – LED ZEPPLIN TRIBUTE BAND & LIGHT SHOW! Tickets ($15 Pre-Bought * $18 at the door) are available at Main St. Ice Cream Parlor, Panther Mountain Inn, Odd Duck , Rustic Charm (next to theater) & Chestertown Farmers Market – Wednesdays 10 AM to 2 PM . Horicon Day: August 20th: 1PM Historical Society Open House * 2PM Fire Dept. Memorial for Jack Higgins * 6PM Family Show with area dancers, Abbott & Costello, Festival of Fools, & Holcom Brothers Band! Huge fireworks display around dusk and Music at The Hub directly afterward!
Chestertown Fireworks: August 25th: Free concert by the Beatles – “Across the Pond” on the lawn behind the Chester Municipal Center 7PM-9PM followed by great fireworks display. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for some great entertainment and a night under the stars!
Rum Runners Weekend: Sept. 16th & 17th: Casino Night: Will be held 8PM Friday night (Sept. 16th) and Georgie Wonders Big Band will be playing Saturday afternoon at 3:30 with Speak-Easy, Jazz and Charleston contests that evening. Restaurant specials throughout town all weekend so Save the Date and pass the word!!!!! First committee meeting is Tuesday August 16th, 5PM at the Panther Mt. Pub – anyone wanting to help is more than welcome to attend!
Outdoor Live: September 23,24,25 – Big Foot (!?!!??) will be making an appearance Friday night at the Horicon Town Hall and a live wolf will be at the Carol Theatre on Saturday! Rifle, pistol & archery training, Chainsaw cutting demos, Bow & Arrow shooting and much more is being planned.
Mentoring Program: Volunteers are still needed for children in our area – Contact Susan Morante at #251-2225 if you are interested in helping out this very worthwhile program!
Electronic Bulletin Board: Has 10 events on it currently – Kudos to the NW Chamber for keeping up with changes, etc!
Chestertown Road Signs: A committee has been formed to go over current ‘signage laws’ in town. The TLBA has suggested signs be allowed up 14 days before an event and must be removed at least 7 days after. It was also suggested to limit signage to professionally made signs (except for garage sales) and to keep signage to local events (eliminating Sky Diving in Saratoga, etc).
Wakonda Campground is having a fund raiser Labor Day weekend for a scholarship in memory of Anita VanDoren and the TLBA is donating a $50 Visa card for the raffles.
Chestertown Farmers Market: Every Wednesday 10AM – 2PM from now until mid-Sept – market is averaging over 1,000 people a day !!!!
