General Board Meeting Minutes: August 21, 2015
Farmers Market: Averaging over 1,000 people a week, market is showing 3,000 more than last year at this time!
Golf Outing: WE NEED TEAMS AND $50 HOLE SPONSORS! Please help support the Alliance!!!! The annual Golf Outing to benefit the TBLA will be held Friday October 2nd at Cronins. 1PM start with steak dinner afterward. Cost is $75 PP and guests/spouses can just come for dinner for $25. Warren Ford is donating a Hole in One Truck and committee is looking for donations for raffles from any businesses willing to help out. It’s only $50 to sponsor a tee and as this is one of the few fund raisers’ we’ll be having this year, your support will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Meet the Candidates Night: August 28th, 7PM at the Chester Municipal Center with those running for Chestertown Supervisor.
Carol Theatre: The talent that has been coming to our town has been amazing, but unfortunately we’re just not getting the local support we need as far as attendance…. We’d like to thank our three new Silver Sponsors: Fred & Karen Holman, John & Cynthia Behan and Penny Redmond as their support will help with advertising and getting the word out on our performances. A 2016 season pass will be given to all sponsors as we GREATLY APPRECIATE their donations.
Comedy Show at the Carol: August 29th – these guys were fantastic last time and it promises to be another great performance! If you saw them before you’ll agree these guys are phenomenal and it’s a definitely a show not to be missed! Tickets are available in advance at the Main St. Ice Cream Parlor, Rustic Charm, Panther Mt. Pub and the Chestertown Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays, or at the door the night of the performance. Adult content so suitable for over 18 only.
Helpers Fund: Invites everyone to go to Cronin’s on August 27th to benefit the Helpers Fund – Food, Cash Bar, Raffles! CORRECTION: The Helpers Fund Event on August 27th is NOT open to everyone; it is a special event to thank the donors who donate over a certain amount each year.
Rum Runners Weekend: Get out your flapper costume, gather your gangster gear and get ready for Rum Runners Weekend – September 17,18,19 so mark your calendars and invite your friends! A new Casino Night is in the works for Thursday Night at the old Chestertown Fire House (now MacMillan Construction) in town. Vintage Car Hop will be traveling through our immediate area on Friday night looking for the infamous Wesley Butler along with his long time side kick, Giselle Montanez…. Old time car chase over Landon Hill followed by Babe Ruth Baseball, a Carnival & American Legion Chinese Auction and USO show Saturday behind the Chester Town Hall, Vaudeville Show at the Carol Theater at 3:30 with Speak Easy, Jazz Bands, Photo Booth and Scavenger Hunt all weekend long! Restaurants and Businesses interested in participating in the Friday night ‘tour’ can contact [email protected].
Sportsman’s Weekend: Still Looking for Sponsors!!!! Event will be held September 11, 12 & 13, will have hunting and fishing lectures, guest speaker from a major hunting magazine editor and possible archery lessons and/or demonstrations. Events will be held at Dynamite Hill and both the Chester and Horicon Town Halls.
Chester Challenge is official: There are a lot of people on the trails, brochures are available at the Chamber of Commerce, and there is a sign at the top of each trail showing which mountains you can see. Electric Sign Update: This informational sign will be available to post any events from any of our local non-profit organizations (Fire Departments, Women’s Auxiliary, Scouts, Snowmobile Club, Rotary, etc) so if you haven’t donated yet please do – Checks can be sent to the NW Chamber of Commerce. MacMillan Construction will be donating the excavation work & wiring, Brett Winchip and Garnet Signs have donated engineering and drawings, Northwoods Concrete will be donating the concrete work needed and Saratoga Bridge is donating the iron works needed so many thanks to all of these businesses!
Town Board Meetings: It was suggested that if you can’t attend our local Town Board Meetings you should at least read the meeting minutes each month as events that affect all residents is discussed and decided upon at these meetings.
Brant Lake Bridge: Looking Good! As the damn belongs to the Town and the Bridge belongs to the County it has been a long time in coming, but progress is moving forward, including an electronic lake level system is being put in (vs. physically pulling boards out like is currently being done).
