General Board Meeting Minutes: August 7, 2015
North Creek Business Alliance: Joel let us know what the North Creek Alliance has been doing – great events including the Adirondack Rafting Guide’s Olympics on August 10th which is spectator friendly with bands & raffles as the guides compete – 11AM start at the Ski Bowl. On August 15th there will be a free Raffle Party to benefit their alliance and support the Village Shuttle and Cruise Nights – event runs from 3-6PM at Riverside Park in North Creek. Farmers Market: Last week totals – 1258 came through the gate (and we know we miss some who come in through the back parking lots!) In 7 weeks we’ve had 7,240 visit the market compared to 5,748 at the same time last year!
Car Hop: Next Friday, August 14th at 5PM at the Panther Mt. Pub – trophies are being donated by Tri-Lakes Storage. If you business would like to donate the trophies for September ($40) let us know!
Meet the Candidates Night: August 27th, 7PM at the Chester Municipal Center with those running for Chestertown Supervisor. CORRECTION: The Meet the Candidates Night was changed to Friday night Aug. 28th, so as to not conflict with the Helpers Fund. Contact Ed Griesmer (494-2210) if you need additional information or have questions.
Horicon Day: August 1st. Fun for all and a great fireworks display in downtown Brant Lake. Vendors, Food and Fun all day so make sure you check it out!
Adirondack Shin Dig: August 8th. Yard Sales 9AM-3PM (contact Peggy for a space #494-4430). City Limits Band 5PM-8PM, Food all day, dancing, Free Admission! Sponsored by the Horicon Historical Society Museum Annex.
Golf Outing: The annual Golf Outing to benefit the TBLA will be held Friday October 2nd at Cronins. 1PM start with steak dinner afterward. Cost is $75 PP and guests/spouses can just come for dinner for $25. Warren Ford is donating a Hole in One Truck and committee is looking for donations for raffles from any businesses willing to help out. $50 to sponsor a tee and as this is one of the few fund raisers’ we’ll be having this year, your support will be greatly appreciated! Carol Theatre: Laura Roth will be performing August 8th with a Beach party themed concert by Joey Pucci and the American Longboards on Saturday August 15th at 7:30PM – $15 admission. Attendance has been down this summer and we’d really appreciate more local support from our communities.
Comedy Show at the Carol: August 29th – these guys were fantastic last time and it promises to be another great performance! Tickets are available in advance at the Main St. Ice Cream Parlor, Rustic Charm, Panther Mt. Pub and the Chestertown Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays.
CORRECTION/ADDITION: The Not Too Far From Home Comedy Tour: To all the members of the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance, on the 29th of August the Alliance is presenting THE NOT TOO FAR FROM HOME COMEDY TOUR featuring three very talented comedians. This show will benefit the Alliance in their many endeavors. Tickets are available at our many outlets (Main St. Ice Cream Parlor, Panther Mountain Inn, Rustic Charm (next to theater) Chestertown Farmers Market – Wednesdays 10 AM to 2 PM) or call to reserve tickets at the door call #494-5318 . If each member would promote the sale of 5 tickets each , we will have a very successful event. This is a very easy event to sponsor, with no work involved just the selling of tickets. Show is Saturday, August 29 7:30 pm Carol Theatre. Ages 18 and over please.
Rum Runners Weekend: September 17,18,19 so mark your calendars and invite your friends! A new Casino Night is in the works for Thursday night in conjunction with the Chestertown Rotary, and John MacMillan will be checking with the Rotary. A location still needs to be determined (Conservation Club? NW Trailblazers Club House?). Committee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday August 13th at 6:30 PM and anyone interested in helping on the committee can contact [email protected].
Sportsman’s Weekend: Looking for Sponsors!!!! Event will be held September 11, 12 & 13, will have hunting and fishing lectures, guest speaker from a major hunting magazine editor and possible archery lessons and/or demonstrations. Events will be held at Dynamite Hill and both the Chester and Horicon Town Halls.
Electric Sign Update: ZBA approved the sign and now we will go to the next step. Thank you to Britt Carmer of Stone Bridge Iron & Steel who will donating the mounting post for the sign, and again, many thanks to Fred Holman for keeping up with this! This informational sign will be available to post any events from any of our local non-profit organizations (Fire Departments, Women’s Auxiliary, Scouts, Snowmobile Club, Rotary, etc) so if you haven’t donated yet – more monies are still needed so please donate – Checks can be sent to the NW Chamber of Commerce.
TLBA Stationary & Secretary Duties: It was voted to purchase more TLBA stationary so we don’t have to keep photocopying the few sheets we have left, and to extend written invitations to all new businesses in town letting them know about our organization and inviting them to attend.
Theriot Ave: Another town review regarding the closing of Theriot Ave. and public hiking trails on Panther Mt. is scheduled for the next Chester Town Board Meeting August 11th @ 7PM.
