• Brant Lake Winter Carnival: was February 15th and was a huge success. More info to follow after wrap up meeting but big thanks to Town of Horicon and Jimbo’s for their contributions. Also thanks to Mountain Hardware for the outhouse trophies, Supervisor Leggett and Councilman Olson for judging the Fry Pan Toss, Scott Hayes for the free firewood, Jess Mead for the new flyer design and all the volunteers who manned the info desk for us! Also Kudos to the Out House Winners who donated or a portion of their winnings to the Scott Remington Spinal Cord Research: 1st place Phoenix returned $200, 2nd place Etain returned $300 and People’s choice Etain returned $100… gotta love this town!
• Downhill Derby: February 22nd – get your sleds ready!!! Looks like it’s going to be a great weekend so come out for some winter fun! Schedule attached and once again, if you can volunteer even for an hour or so let Julia know! They also need judges for the sleds, basket raffle items (just drop those unwanted holiday gifts off at the Chamber!) and Individually wrapped baked goods. Call or email the Chamber for more info!
• St. Pat’s Parade! March 14th at 2PM – first organizational meeting will be Wed. February 26th at 6Pm at the Panther Mt. Pub.
• Chamber is also looking into a job fair for this spring and they will be attending a 2 day Sports Expo in Saratoga in March to get people interested in our area.
• YMCA is extending their free membership enrollment through the end of the month so sign up!
• Rotary is starting a Rotary International and doing a membership drive…. you can also sign up as a Friend of the Rotary which is the group who did the Christmas Trees with Santa this year. It’s free to join and all are welcome!
• Rack Cards are being started as a joint venture again this year with the TLCA and the Chamber.
• Occupancy Tax has received a lot of requests this year and Craig Leggett said not everything will be funded.
• Carol Theatre is doing some renovations, new box office and they’re working on putting in a bar for performances – so far this year they have Led Zeppelin act with Jonathan Newel, The Beatles and Seagle Music Colony! Stay posted!
• TRI-LAKES COMMUNITY ALLLIANCE meets the 2nd Friday of every month, 9 AM at the Panther Mt. Pub and rules are still the same! 1) Meetings last for only one hour. 2) Only one person talks at a time, so please try to attend if you want to get a little involved in our community happenings.
