General Board Meeting Minutes: June 26, 2015
ATV Ride: The May 30th ATV ride was again a great success making money to be donated to the North Warren Community Electric sign we’re working on getting installed in front of the Chamber building, but unfortunately a few riders who refused to follow the rules have jeopardized any future events like this for all. It’s a shame because these rides were great fun for many and great fundraises as we have donated the proceeds to Toys for Tots, The Helpers Fund and numerous other well deserving groups in our area.
Carol Theater: Classic Country Rock with CITY LIMITS playing live Sunday June 28th at the Carol Theatre in Chestertown! Performance starts at 3PM and cost is only $10 – Great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon!!!!
Electric Sign: Town has given their approval and we will now present to the Adirondack Park Agency.
This informational sign will be for both Horicon & Chester events being held by all community groups
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, The Rotary, The Priory, Northern Warren Snowmobile Club, Town Festivals, Fire Departments, Chamber of Commerce, TLBA, etc. There will be no business advertising and monies are still needed to actually make the sign. Any non-profits or groups who will benefit from this sign please consider making a donation – checks can be mailed to the North Warren Chamber of Commerce.
Car Hop: Next Car Hop is scheduled for July 10th at 5PM – help get the word out as these are a lot of fun for a few hours out on a Friday night – rain date is always the following Friday.
Woof Stock: We want to thank all of you for helping to make our 1st Annual Woof Stock a huge success!!! And a special thanks to those of you who sponsored our t-shirts! Estimated attendance was between 2500 and 3500 people with at least 1000 dogs!!!! Everyone had a wonderful time, we didn’t receive one complaint 🙂 and we’re going under the assumption that everyone who attended this year will be back next year and bring at least one friend!!!! The Tri-Lakes Business Alliance’s goal was to bring people into town and we did it! I think we now realize “it’s all about the dogs” and businesses should gear specials etc. with that thought in mind – the theatre performance did not have the attendance we hoped for as most ‘visitors’ had their dogs with them and would not leave them alone at their campsite or in their motel room…. outdoor/dog friendly venues are needed to attract this group …. Rustic Charm had a huge dog watering bowl and free ‘treats’ outside their door (great idea) which tempted many to check out their store! We’ve gotten some great press coverage afterward, with more info and photos in the print version of our local newspapers….

Again, huge Thank you to all the committee members, sponsors, Town of Chester, Town of Horicon, NW Central School and all who stopped by t o check it out! Hope you all had as much fun as we did, and we’re looking forward to doing it again next year – Fathers Day Weekend, June 18-19…..
Farmers Market: 412 visited the Market June 17th and 526 on June 24th. Last year there were over 900 entering the Market during a four hour period on many summer Wednesdays and we’re hoping to hit the 1,000 mark this year!!!!
Rum Runners Weekend: Being held September 18-20 with a few new surprises for this year! Mark your calendar and spread the word! Organizational meetings will start in August so let us know if you can help!
Golf Outing: The annual Golf Outing to benefit the TBLA will be held Friday October 2nd at Cronins. 1PM start with dinner afterward. Anyone willing to help with this please call Doug O’Brien @ #494-4565 or email [email protected]
Town Board Meetings: Linda Muench discussed a need for more people to attend the monthly Town Board meetings as attendance is minimal and information discussed at these meetings is huge! It was also agreed that we would like to see more of a presence from our Town Board members at our bi-monthly meetings and/or at the events we organize. Councilman Bob Olson (representing the Town of Horicon) is regularly at our meetings & events, and his input, concerns and comments are always welcomed!
Next Meeting Friday, July 10, 2015
