Tri Lakes Business Alliance Minutes, March 7, 2014
Meeting opened at 9:05 a.m. by Don Butler, President.
Annual Meeting – Donnie announced that today is our official Annual Meeting.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade – step off will be at 1 p.m. There are 40 participants, including bagpipers from Glens Falls, a single musician from Warrensburg school playing a Saxophone, etc. We need a couple of people to carry the Tri Lakes banner and we’ll need volunteers to blow up the balloons. Helena volunteered to do the balloons with her daughter’s help and Randy and Patty Berg agreed to carry the banner. The dance studio in town will be raising funds for their future trip by selling hot dogs/hamburgers. They needed rolls and the Pepperidge Farm rep who delivers to McCluskeys agreed to donate the rolls for no charge.
ATV Group is having their run on March 17 and the proceeds from that will go to the Helper’s Fund.
Website – Brandon announced that it will need a domain name and that he is working on that presently.
Donnie said there is a copy of the by-laws available for anyone who is interested.
APA Best Community Events Contest – Rumrunners and the Winter Carnival were written up and presented to the APA for their competition. The reason for this contest is that they want to see more activity in small local economies. There were 8 categories to choose from for each event.
Adirondack Gateway Council is looking for a rep to work with them on a plan for affordable housing and Brandon has agreed to represent the North Warren Chamber on that committee.
Scholarship Fund – had no report as they have not had a meeting.
Winter Carnival 2015 – date still being discussed. Possibility of having a week long event during the week school is out. Start with the Downhill Derby and end with the Winter Carnival with events throughout the week around town. This is still under consideration.
North Warren School Board Meeting – it was announced that several members of the Business Alliance and the chamber would be going to the meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m. to encourage more participation by the students in our community events, and to also meet the new Superintendent and invite her to attend one of our Business Alliance meetings.
Carol Theater – Al mentioned that Jonathan Newell is anxious to get some things going at the theater. He suggested we might want to have Jonathan come to one of our meetings to share his ideas.
Meeting adjourned at 10 a.m.
