Tri-Lakes Business Alliance Meeting
March 9, 2018
Meeting called to order at 9 a.m. Adirondack Firefighters Foundation made $1600 at their fundraiser.
Spinal Cord Benefit at Jimbo’s broke the ½ million dollar mark last year.
Downhill Derby had great weather, fantastic crowd, new cardboard box kid’s race was fun, and the People’s Choice award was the Whale with water spout which everyone enjoyed.
Chamber News: There is a chamber mixer at the Odd Duck tonight from 4-6 p.m. with cash bar. Lynn and Deb will not be at the parade this year as they’ll be at another event south of us to promote chambers and area. Economic Development meeting coming in April.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade – there is more interest than ever before this year. Chestertown “Blarney Stone” is in place and each kisser will receive a “Lips” sticker. We are still looking for a basic weight bench to place in front of it for participants. Table will be set up to sell sweatshirts and buttons(marking the event). Jackie is working on getting volunteers from the high school and Jack from the “Y” as well to wear the dog and snowman costumes. MOAS will be selling burgers and dogs. Several fire companies will be participating as well as the Odd Duck owners will be in costume meandering up and down the parade route. Ad.net had a blast on the parade and the Sun had an article on some bagpipers in the area and mentioned our parade.
Adirondack Woofstock is June 2nd and 3rd this year with a new Dock Dogs group.
Car Hops will be starting in May and continue on the 1st and 3rd Friday each month to November.
North Creek is having a 4th of July parade on July 7th.
Summerfest is on July 7th this year. There’ll be an Oldies Show in the Community Center that day. They are looking for sponsors for the fireworks this year.
“Y” programs are getting traction. They have a $120,000 budget. Himoff family has given $25,000 and are looking for a match. Also looking for $100 donations to “support a kid”. Talk to Brandon or Jack about this.
Winter Carnival attendance was good but not a record year. All ran smoothly, but event still needs some improvement. Brandon thanked all volunteers who helped make this year successful. There is a meeting following this to discuss.
Al Tolomeo will be playing with his group this Thursday evening at Jimbo’s.
