General Board Meeting Minutes: May 2, 2014

  • Car Hop: Friday, May 9th beginning at 5 PM at the Panther Mt. Inn. This month’s trophies were donated by The Crossroads. Vintage Car owners and spectators are all welcome to attend – no entry fees!
  • ATV Ride to Benefit The Helpers Fund: Saturday May 10th. $20 entry fee includes barbeque at The Tin TeePee afterward. Last ride had 60 – 70 participants and more are expected this year! 11 AM start with registration beginning at 10 AM at the Tin TeePee.
  • Carol Theatre: Committee has been formed and events are being scheduled for this summer. The group is the Adirondack Performing Arts Council (APAC) so check out their webpage at http://adkpac.webs.com or find them on Face Book https://www.facebook.com/pages/Adirondack-Performing-Arts-Council/779926848693531?ref=hl and make sure to “Like” and “Share”! There will be an Open House Fund Raiser on May 9th to correspond with the Car Hop so stop in and check it out! Funds are needed for this project for advertising & theatre electric costs and committee will be sending a letter out to local businesses and individuals for donations to get them started. Performers will be paid by a portion of ticket sales. The Carol Theatre building is also officially for sale, and anyone interested in more information should contact Cindy Mead at Gallo Realty.

Meeting Minutes: April 18, 2014

  • The Best Community Events Contest held by the APA awarded our Rum Runners Weekend presentation First Place in the Spring/Fall Category and the Brant Lake Winter Carnival received Honorable Mention! Kudos to us!!!
  • The TLBA committee for the North Warren Scholarship will be getting the application to the school this week. Essay topic will be an idea of an event or change that would benefit our community. Scholarship will be for $500.
  • This year’s Car Hops will take place the 2nd Friday of every month, beginning May 9th and running through September. Stone Bridge & Caves, The Crossroads, Upstate Agency, Mark Sissons of Edward Jones, The Panther Mt. Inn and Gallo Realty volunteered to purchase trophies for this monthly event.
  • The ATV Poker Run to benefit the Helper’s Fund will be held May 10th. Ride begins at the Tin Tee Pee and runs to Green Mansions then back to the Tin Tee Pee for a cook-out. Check in time is 10 am at the Tin Tee Pee.
  • Chestertown Farmers Market has over 24 vendors & 4-5 non profits signed up and will begin June 18th and run every Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm until mid September. A request was made for someone to sell beverages (water, lemonade, coffee, etc) and the Chester Youth Commission has volunteered to fill this gap.

Meeting Minutes: April 5, 2014

  • The Best Community Events Contest being held by the APA has 5 entries from our area (Brant Lake Winter Carnival, Rum Runners Weekend, County Bi-Centennial, Down Hill Derby, and Horicon Day) and Bob Olson will be attending the presentation ceremony as a representative to hopefully accept an award or two!
  • The TLBA committee for the North Warren Scholarship will be meeting again and will get the necessary forms to the school for this year’s graduation. Scholarship will be for $500.
  • The Wine Tasting on April 23rd (as shown on the placemats) is an error. There will be a beer tasting at the Panther Mt Inn sometime in April. Exact date and time to follow. Read more →

Meeting Minutes: February 21, 2014

  • Brant Lake Winter Carnival was a huge success and many thanks to the committee and all the people who donated their time and energy to making this happen! $282 was raised in the pack basket raffle for the TLBA and we’re looking forward to this being a yearly event! The winner of the basket donated it back to the Alliance so we have the opportunity to raffle it off again!
  • St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled for March 8th with a 1pm step off. There are currently 27 groups signed up and all local businesses are challenged to bring a float! Help is still needed from Alliance members to assist with traffic so contact Keith Wilkinson #588-5136 or Don Butler #573-4386 for more information or if you can help! Meeting Minutes: February 7, 2014

  • Brant Lake Winter Carnival is set for Saturday February 8th, starting @ 11am with Fireworks at dusk. Committee reported that all was ready to go! Brandon explained that Jimbo’s had volunteered to pick up the entire cost of the band for that day/evening but the committee had voted to pay for half this time. In the future, Event Committees will make the decision on what is paid for by the TLBA and what is not, so members are urged to join these satellite committees to get their opinions heard.
  • Down Hill Derby is planned for Saturday, February 22nd so get your sleds ready and contact the Chamber of Commerce for more information.
  • St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled for March 8th with a 1pm step off. This year there will be a Bouncey Bounce for the kids, Kettle Corn and Cotton Candy. Floats from Local Businesses, Bands, Firehouses, Schools and Scout troops are all needed so please contact Don Butler or Keith Wilkinson for more information! Read more →
