Annual Bob “Wimpy” Whitford Ice Fishing Tournament on Brant Lake is scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 8am – 3pm. Cost of tournament is $20, and proceeds go towards a scholarship in Bobby’s name. For more information contact Keith Wilkinson at #518-588-5136.
Brant Lake Winter Carnival: February 24,2018 – Noon to Dusk. Anyone wanting to enter an Out House in the race this year just have your house on the lake by 1PM and register on site. Let us know if you need specs – registration is $25 to help offset prize monies! There will again be Broom Ball Tournaments and Human Foosball Court Competitions so get your teams together and register on site – the Fry Pan Toss will be running from noon to 3PM for all ages! Possible new events: Snow Shoe Races and a Vintage Sled Parade!
Downtown Derby: February 17th. The Wednesday before there will be an opportunity at the YMCA for kids to build a less elaborate cardboard sled!
Town Banners: Still getting designs together and we’ll be sending out choices soon. An email will be sent out to all as soon as we have the details!
Event Banners: Horicon has agreed to put up a place where Event Banners can be hung just next to the Stuck in the Mud pottery shop on the Mill Pond. This will leave the bridge over the damn open for the summer flower boxes.
Rack Cards: Debra will get dates together (contact her at the Chamber if you want your event advertised) and Brandon will work on layout so we can get them out before Spring.
Economic Development update: Debra Eves reported there will be various meetings every Tuesday @ 7PM for businesses and community members to offer their input on what you’d like to see happen in our town. A survey will be coming out and they are looking for input and volunteers so call the Chamber for more info.
North Creek Snowtrain: Again running from Saratoga to North Creek and Gore Mt. was listed as one of the top 3 ski resorts in the US by a ski magazine.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade: March 17th! Barb & Wayne Thomas will chair the committee.
Chamber announced a Main St. Business is looking for full time manager so call the Chamber for more info.
Studio Tour of Local Artists: August 4th… currently 8-9 artists participating – contact Fred Holman for info.
YMCA News: Yoga & exercise classes starting in February and they wanted us to know the YMCA building can be rented out for private events (no alcohol). Includes access to their huge kitchen! Contact the YMCA Mon-Fri for info.
