Meeting Minutes: July 26, 2013

• An ATV Ride to benefit the local Hardship Fund will be held Saturday, July 27^th, starting at the Tin Tee Pee and going through Chestertown with a barbeque at the Tin Tee Pee following. Thank you again to McCluskey’s for donating the hot dog & hamburger rolls… entry fee is $10 and all proceeds will go to the Hardship Fund. Another ride is scheduled in September to benefit Toys for Tots.
• The Chestertown Farmer’s Market reported they have had 3,738 people (854 last week) come through the gate in the 6 weeks they’ve been open this year, more than half of the 6,177 TOTAL visitors from the entire season last year. There are currently +/- 25 vendors with 3 to 6 non-profits on site every Wednesday.
• The next Music on Main Street will be on Thursday, August 15^th in front of the Town Hall in Chestertown. Band will be playing from 5pm to 8pm and the event will be sponsored entirely by the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance. We’re asking for permission from the Town to put a banner across the road at the Town Hall and possibly one on the Chamber of Commerce fence to advertise the event.
• Rum Runner Weekend scheduled for September is moving forward with plans for restaurants to dress for the era and offer $19.25 specials, a mock car chase over Landon Hill, a Babe Ruth baseball game, Vaudeville Acts/ Burlesque show and many other great things to do that weekend, but we really need a few more volunteers to help organize! The next committee meeting for this is Tuesday July 30^th @ 6pm at the Panther Mt. Inn, and the meetings are very short so if you can help out, please attend.
• Town signs were again discussed; the decrepit one by Stewarts and a new one for the south end of Chestertown but the committee keeps hitting road blocks.
• Tom Suozzo, P.E., project manager for Cedarwood Engineering Services, PLLC, gave a presentation on his company doing a feasible study for a Waste-Water system for the Chestertown business district. Applications for grant monies are due August 12^th, and he has been working with the Town of Chester to get an application in which, if accepted, would give Chester 80% funding for planning the feasibility study. They could do this study for $22,000, and if the town received the grant, they would only be responsible for +/- $4,000. A plan such as this has to be “on the shelf” so when additional grant monies come available for the actual installation of a waste-water system, we would be ready to submit the paperwork and have everything ready to apply for the grant. The TLBA voted to support this feasibility study and Don Butler will be talking with Fred Monroe to move forward quickly on applying for the grant.
• There will be a final fund raiser for the Warren County Bi-Centennial parade and celebration to be held August 24 with a parade 1 p.m. and events all day at the old Glendale Drive-In (historic fairgrounds) location in Pottersville. The fund raiser will be held August 1^st at the Chester Town Hall at 7pm. Entrance fee is $7.00 with music by Dan Bergman.
• An application to the Town of Horicon was approved to submit a request for $8,500 of Bed Tax money for the Brant Lake Winter Carnival scheduled for February 2014. While Jimbo’s Club has donated the use of its facility and the work of its staff to assist in setting up the carnival, the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance has set a goal to bring the carnival to the next level, bringing more visitors to the community to enjoy our town and even more excitement and fun to this year’s carnival. The funding would be to have a terrific fireworks display for the evening of the Carnival and to partially fund additional advertising and promotion and even more entertainment on the lake that day. Town of Chester would prefer we continue to come to them on an event by event basis for requested financial aid.
