Ø Great to see everyone at the meeting and a huge thanks to the Panther Mt. Pub for allowing us to have our meetings there as in the past!!!!
Ø Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will be held in Chestertown on Monday, May 31. Legion Riders, Veterans riding in vehicles, Fire Trucks from the community will line-up at the Chestertown Fire House at 10:15 a.m. with departure to Rt 9 at 10:45 a.m. Marchers and Floats (organizations, families, business sponsored vehicles) line-up at 10:15 a.m. on Church Street, to join (march/drive) ahead of fire trucks at approx. 10:50 a.m. Parade Route: From Bullhouse via Church street to Chestertown Municipal Center on Route 9. Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at 11:00 a.m. We are hoping to have a great turn-out as our community practices a Common-Sense Approach for marchers and viewers to Honor our Fallen Heroes. The last community parade was for St Patrick’s Day on March 14 2020 as the Pandemic was taking hold of the many changes we have experienced in our daily lives. This parade is a way of honoring our veterans, and celebrating the awakening of our community and country this summer. Please consider ways you can be involved with this Memorial Day community event. Ø Chestertown Farmer’s Market is set to open on the front lawn of the town hall on June 16th from 10am – 2pm. All of our seasoned vendors and a few new ones so make sure you stop by! Social distancing and mask wearing will be required until further notice.
Ø Summerfest is scheduled for July 10th from 5pm – 9pm with fireworks at dusk. Food trucks, bouncy house donated by Word of Life, and fun for the whole family.
Ø Chamber of Commerce is also developing a new tourism brochure with Johnsburg so it will feature all three towns and be available in printed and digital pdf.
Ø Food Truck Fridays will start up again in Brant Lake on the Mill Pond this summer – opening day to be announced! (either June 25 or July 2)
Ø Woodstock on the Mill Pond may be happening this year – need community volunteers! Woof Stock will not be happening this year as planning would have had to start in February and we were not sure of the Covid restrictions at that time but it will be scheduled for next June!
Ø The TLCA will be donating (2) $500 scholarships to this year’s graduating class at North Warren, one for a student heading to college and one to a student attending a trade school.
Ø Brant Lake Canoe Race scheduled for August 7th! More details to follow!
Ø Carol Theatre has a few performances scheduled – August 14th: High Peaks Blue Grass / Sept. 17th: Chicago Total Access. More events may be scheduled.
Ø If you haven’t checked out the Hilton Farm Stand at the end of Brant Lake, try to do so – Family run store w/lots of local foods and crafts!
Ø Chestertown Library is now open to the public for browsing during the week!
