Post Star: First Woof Stock expected to be big event for the Adirondacks

CHESTER – Your pooch doesn’t have to be a pro to enjoy the first Adirondack Woof Stock.

While the event is drawing professional dog disc catching and athletic canine competitors, there will be plenty of opportunities for the novice – and the human – to have some fun.

The Tri-Lakes Business Alliance is in the final stages of putting together what is expected to be a major draw to Chester and the Adirondacks in the first ever “weekend of peace, paws and music,” as the event slogan goes.

General Board Meeting Minutes: May 15, 2015

Paint & Sip: This Wednesday, May 20th, 6PM – 9PM at the Panther Mt. Pub- $40 registration includes all painting supplies and a glass of wine! Fun night out! Call #573-3418 for reservation – seating is limited.

Carol Theater: Not Too Far From Home Comedy benefitting the North Warren School’s Performing Arts Club was a success and the TLBA will be giving the school +/- $1700 for the upcoming trip the group is taking. Comedians loved the crowd and the theatre and would like to come back so we might be booking them for another show in the future.

The Rotary gave the TLBA a check for $300 for all of the events our group organizes. Congratulations to George Stannard as the new Rotary President and Many, Many thanks as the TLBA is run totally on donations, fundraisers and the time and effort of our local business owners and citizens, and this donation is greatly appreciated!

ATV Ride: May 30th starting at the Tin TeePee at 10 AM followed by cookout at 5. Donations for door prizes for both events that day are needed so let us know if you can help! Proceeds will benefit new Electric Sign fund (for in front of the NW Chamber building). Again, help is needed to make this event go smoothly so volunteer a few hours if you can! Read more →

General Board Meeting Minutes: May 1, 2015

North Country Arts: Youth Visions – A High School Juried Art Exhibit, will be held May 1st – May 24th at the North Country Arts Studio in Chestertown, open Saturday and Sunday11AM – 5PM. If you haven’t checked out this great local gallery, do so for this event!!!

General Board Meeting Minutes: April 17, 2015

Car Hop: First Car Hop of the Year: May 8th – 5PM at the Panther Mt. Inn. Businesses are asked to donate trophies ($40 – just get your check to Donnie) for the 5 shows scheduled for this year. Additional help is also need to sell 50/50 raffle tickets each evening if you can help out once or twice!

National Topless Day for Jeeps: May 16th at the Tin TeePee – Registration at 10AM. There will be passenger rides available and over $6,000 worth of raffle prizes! Free rides and BBQ for all Veterans! Proceeds will benefit area food pantry.

General Board Meeting Minutes: April 3, 2015

Craft Brew Fest: May 30th at the Hub in Brant Lake. 5 PM – 8 PM – $25 admission to benefit new Electric Sign. Saratoga Brewery coming plus others! It was suggested local home brewers also be invited to attend and committee will look into this.

Woof Stock: June 20-21. This is getting bigger than we thought…. we have the Hudson Valley Dock Dogs http://www.hudsonvalleydockdogs.com , Beantown Disc Dogshttps://www.facebook.com/BeantownDiscDogs and Doggie Fun Zone (agility & lure chasing – coming up from Florida!) http://doggiefunzone.com. confirmed at this time, and they’re all doing their own advertising campaign so we think there are going to be an awful lot of people showing up over the 2 day event. North Shore Animal League & Adirondack Save a Stray will be coming with 40 – 50 dogs up for adoption (great time of year to get a puppy!). Wood Stock Revisited concert on Saturday night is set, Blessing of the Animals, Police Canine Demonstration & live music, food, & beer/wine tents are all in place. We still need a pet photographer and volunteers to help with selling t-shirts, etc. so if anyone is interested let us know! Let’s out our tie-die and get ready to travel back to 1969! Read more →
