General Board Meeting Minutes: August 7, 2015
North Creek Business Alliance: Joel let us know what the North Creek Alliance has been doing – great events including the Adirondack Rafting Guide’s Olympics on August 10th which is spectator friendly with bands & raffles as the guides compete – 11AM start at the Ski Bowl. On August 15th there will be a free Raffle Party to benefit their alliance and support the Village Shuttle and Cruise Nights – event runs from 3-6PM at Riverside Park in North Creek. Prize list is online at www.VisitNorthCreek.org
Farmers Market: Last week totals – 1258 came through the gate (and we know we miss some who come in through the back parking lots!) In 7 weeks we’ve had 7,240 visit the market compared to 5,748 at the same time last year!
Car Hop: Next Friday, August 14th at 5PM at the Panther Mt. Pub – trophies are being donated by Tri-Lakes Storage. If you business would like to donate the trophies for September ($40) let us know!
Meet the Candidates Night: August 27th, 7PM at the Chester Municipal Center with those running for Chestertown Supervisor. CORRECTION: The Meet the Candidates Night was changed to Friday night Aug. 28th, so as to not conflict with the Helpers Fund. Contact Ed Griesmer (494-2210) if you need additional information or have questions. Read more →
General Board Meeting Minutes: July 24, 2015
Car Hop: Next one is August 14th – 50/50 raffles have been going well. Main Street Ice Cream Parlor will be donating trophies and Tri-Lakes Storage will donate for the September Car Hop.
Farmers Market: Past weeks have had 1105, 1035 and 1205 people pass through the gate in the four hours the Market is open for the past three weeks! A Town Board member mentioned moving the Market to Dynamite Hill citing damage to the town ‘lawn’ (lawns are meant to be walked on?) and the traffic (compared to Warrensburg during Garage Sale weekend or Bolton Landing any day of the week?). If that happens, the Market Committee has unanimously agreed that they will all resign. TOPS volume increases by 30% on market days and other businesses in town have reported similar increases in business. The purpose of the TLBA is to bring commerce into our towns (not get off the Northway, go to Dynamite Hill then stop at Stewarts and get back on I87), and the Market (and its current location) have obviously made that happen.
Meet the Candidates Night: The Loon Lake Park District Association is trying to organizing a Meet the Candidates Night for the people who are running for Chester Town Supervisor and possibly whoever is running for the Town Board. More info to follow.
Horicon Day: August 1st. Fun for all and a great fireworks display in downtown Brant Lake. Vendors, Food and Fun all day so make sure you check it out! Read more →
General Board Meeting Minutes: July 10, 2015
Brant Lake Kayak/Canoe Poker Run: An idea was brought up to have a Poker Run on Brant Lake as the ATV Poker runs are probably a thing of the past and these were great fundraisers for the Alliance. Don Butler will head this committee and Cindy Mead, Christine Caunter, Al Tolomeo, & Sue Mead will help on the committee…. not sure if this will come together this year but will look into plans for 2016.
Carol Theatre: The Beatles concert brought in 180 people with $690 going to the TLBA. Great time had by all! Try to get out and see these live shows as the performances are always spectacular! Next performance is Jim Gaudet & The Railroad Boys (Acoustic Americana Roots Music),
July 22 @7:00 PM $10 admission followed by George Wonder Big Band (this was awesome last year!) on July 25 @ 7:30 PM $20 admission.
We will also be having Vote Night at the George Wonder concert where you can vote for your favorite ‘Conductor’ and they will have the honor of directing the band that evening! Cast your vote for Fred Monroe, Helena Robbins or Donnie Butler!!!
Raffle’s are held each performance and restaurant gift certificates ($50) are needed and your establishment will be repeatedly announced on stage the night of the performance. Great tax write-off and we obviously recommend those who help us out with these raffles and other TLBA events. We’d also like to thank Bob Swan for putting new items in the theatre building and the ‘behind the scene’ things he does to bring the building up to snuff, often declining the ‘rent’ we pay after each performance.
Advertising Representative: The TLBA and the theatre group need an individual to take over the advertising for our events and performances. There are a lot of free advertising opportunities out there and we need someone to co-ordinate the advertising campaigns for our events. If interested, please call Al at #494-5318.
Sportsman’s Weekend: Sponsored by the NW Chamber of Commerce and the The Crossroads September 11,12 & 13, will have hunting and fishing lectures, guest speaker from a major hunting magazine editor and possible archery lessons and/or demonstrations. Events will be held at Dynamite Hill and both the Chester and Horicon Town Halls.
Adirondack North Country Alliance: will be having a meeting Wednesday, July 15th at Long Lake. Please call Craig Leggett at #494-2324 for more information.
Woof Stock: The TLBA ended up with minimal cost for sponsoring an Adirondack Woof Stock – thanks to the sponsors, donations and generous monies received from the Town of Chester and the Town of Horicon, we’ve all ready reserved the ‘entertainment’ portion of the event (Hudson Valley Dock Dogs, Bean Town Disc Dogs & Doggie Fun Zone) and we’re looking forward to having it again on Father’s Day weekend 2016. Farmers Market: Over 1,100 people attended the market July 8th breaking the 1,000 mark!!!!! Congrats to the ladies and gentleman who make this happen every week and thanks to all of our patrons!
Golf Outing: The annual Golf Outing to benefit the TBLA will be held Friday October 2nd at Cronin’s. 1PM start with dinner afterward. Anyone willing to help with this please call Doug O’Brien @ #494-4565 or email [email protected]
Next Meeting Friday, July 24, 2015
at 9:00 a.m. at Panther Mountain Inn
General Board Meeting Minutes: June 26, 2015
ATV Ride: The May 30th ATV ride was again a great success making money to be donated to the North Warren Community Electric sign we’re working on getting installed in front of the Chamber building, but unfortunately a few riders who refused to follow the rules have jeopardized any future events like this for all. It’s a shame because these rides were great fun for many and great fundraises as we have donated the proceeds to Toys for Tots, The Helpers Fund and numerous other well deserving groups in our area.
Carol Theater: Classic Country Rock with CITY LIMITS playing live Sunday June 28th at the Carol Theatre in Chestertown! Performance starts at 3PM and cost is only $10 – Great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon!!!!
Electric Sign: Town has given their approval and we will now present to the Adirondack Park Agency.
This informational sign will be for both Horicon & Chester events being held by all community groups
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, The Rotary, The Priory, Northern Warren Snowmobile Club, Town Festivals, Fire Departments, Chamber of Commerce, TLBA, etc. There will be no business advertising and monies are still needed to actually make the sign. Any non-profits or groups who will benefit from this sign please consider making a donation – checks can be mailed to the North Warren Chamber of Commerce. Read more →
Town Banners: All of the Town Banners will be removed this year and new ones will be put up in the spring. Please let Cindy know if you want to buy a new banner. New designs will be available for you to choose from shortly, we’ll be staying with the same “recreational” theme, and Cindy […]

A dog entered in a dog diving competition sponsored by the Hudson Valley Dock Dogs leaps to catch a lure before plunging into a pool during an event at Adirondack Woof Stock 2015 in Chestertown this weekend. The festival, billed as “a weekend of peace, paws and music,” drew an estimated 2,500 or more to […]
