Meeting Minutes: September 21, 2012

• Main Street Garage Sale: Garnet Signs donated a banner which is hanging on the fence in front of the Chamber of Commerce advertising the sale and we have around 12 confirmed for spaces in the bank parking lots and Tri-Lakes storage and 9 individual homes that would like to be put on the map. Sale will be run from 9-4 both Saturday and Sunday. Anyone interested in having a garage sale that weekend (September 29 & 30) should contact Debra at #494-5762. Great article in the Adirondack Journal – thanks again to Thom Randall for giving us so much support and publicity the past few months!
• Last month’s car hop was another great success with $120 raised on the 50/50 raffle. 17 cars participated and about 120 people came out to see the event. ‎Panther Mountain Inn donated the trophies -1st Place: Holly Palmer’s ’62 Chevy ImpalaSS, 2nd Place: Chris Marinelli’s ’66 Chevy Chevelle, 3rd Place: Mike Smith’s 71 Dodge Demon, 4th Place: Mike D’Angelico’s ’67 Olds Delmont. Congrats to all and thanks to all who participated! Prime rib dinners were offered and the cars rode through the Pine Tree Motel as well as taking a few laps through Main Street. The last Car Hop of the season will be held October 19^th and Gallo Realty will be donating the trophies (cost is about $40 for 3 so if any business would like to be a sponsor next year, we’ll be sending reminders (.
• Winter will be here before we know it and representatives will again be going to the Chester Town Board Meeting to look into opening up Theriot Ave, keeping a small lane unplowed, and leaving the east sidewalk of town unplowed to allow direct access for snowmobiles from the Rte 8/9 light. Easier access into downtown would be a huge benefit to all restaurants and gas stations on Main Street so your support is needed at the next Town Board Meeting on October 9^th at 7:30.
• Tin Tepee is sponsoring a Toys for Tots ATV poker run on October 13^th. Entry fee is $10 and everyone is asked to bring a new un-wrapped gift. The event runs from 11am to 2pm and there are various trails and stations set up that you can ride your ATV to for your poker hand. • Brochures to be distributed at Global Foundries are finished and will be presented at the next meeting for approval to move forward and get them printed.
• Brandon Himoff developed a Tri-Lakes Business Alliance Face Book page so sign on and “Like” us if you’re on Face Book – it’s a great social medium and will help us keep people posted as to upcoming events, etc.
• More fundraising ideas were discussed – another Wine Tasting? – as we need more money to accomplish some of the things we’ve been working on. We’ve been back in touch with Rob Simon to finish up our Non-Profit Corporation status.
• The Bank is doing a Community Appreciation Day and Christine Caunter, co-owner of Hemlock Ledge, will look into having some of the funds donated to the Tri-Lakes Alliance.

Meeting Minutes: June 29, 2012

• The Horicon Zoning Meeting is Thursday, July 12^th, and all Horicon business owners are urged to attend. The proposed zoning changes are not favorable to business expansion in the town, as they are re-writing the zoning and subdivision ordinances. Meeting minutes from May are attached for your review and your support on the 12^th will be appreciated.
• Chestertown Farmers Market was a huge success… over 260 people walked through the gates opening day and over 270 on the second day… Vendors ran out of product and were very happy; especially when we explained to them our population will quadruple next week and throughout the summer. There are currently 10 vendors and 2 or 3 more have signed up so the committee accomplished their goal of “bringing people into downtown”. Thank you again to all who donated time and money to make this a success!
• Signage: Commmitte went back to Fred Monroe and we have the OK to work on the Forrest Jones Christmas tree signs. Project is moving forward.
• Town Banners: orders are in and we’re waiting for Garnet Signs to get them completed, hopefully by the Summerfest and Veterans Dedication on Wednesday, July 4^th. We have a contact with the town so hopefully when they’re ready, the town will get them hung asap.
• Don Butler is working on a Car Show to be held this summer at the Chester Commons (Rite Aid).
• Information brochures to be distributed at Global Foundries is still in the works and nearing completion. More photos are needed of Dynamite Hill activities, etc. so if anyone has any great shots to share send them on!
• Green Mansions has volunteered the golf course and their establishment for another fund raiser for the Tri-Lakes Alliance this summer. Volunteers are needed to make this happen.
• Adirondack Stairs will be going into the old Jansers building on Rte 9 and The Bullhouse (a steak house!) will be opening in the Remington Building across the street, both being a needed addition to this part of town. Congratulations and good luck to you both!

Meeting Minutes: June 1, 2012

• Rob Simon is moving forward on incorporating the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance. It was agreed that Don Butler will get a separate post office box for the alliance and we’ll use the Chamber of Commerce’s physical address for the paperwork.
• Town Banner reservations have been coming in and there are currently 30 reserved for Chestertown, 11 for Brant Lake, 9 for Pottersville and 4 for Adirondack. No more reservations for Chestertown will be taken at this time as there is a limit of 30 banner holders. The Town of Horicon still needs to get back to us on the availability of the holders in Brant Lake and Adirondack, and if they are willing to purchase more if needed as Chestertown has done. Garnet signs will have the designs ready this week and we’ll send everyone who has a banner reserved an email. They will pick their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd design choice and email it to Garnet signs with their business name as they’d like it written.
• Kudos to Linda Muench for putting the flowers out around town – they compliment the blue benches beautifully!
• It was brought up that we should develop a brochure describing and advocating our area that could be distributed in the Malta/Global Foundries area. A simple brochure could be put together quite quickly and a member of the group has contact with a person who is involved in helping this influx of people relocate to the area. Debra Eves, Mary Jane Dower and Judy Johnson have volunteered to get photos and compile basic information for this brochure, depicting that this is “A Great Place to Live”, which we could get printed and out to the public within a few months, at a relatively minimal cost.
• It was noted that a Fly Fishing Club is staying at the Landon Hill B& B in the near future, and ideas were tossed around as to how we could get more of these groups (kayakers, bass fishermen, antique boaters, etc) to visit our area as a group.
• As summer is here, it was also discussed whether we wanted to change our meeting times to once every 4 weeks but the majority felt we would lose momentum if this was changed.
