General Board Meeting Minutes: August 22, 2014

  • Rum Runner’s Weekend committee is meeting again Wednesday, Sept 3rd, 5PM at the Panther Mt. Pub and anyone interested in helping organize the event is welcome to attend. Great sales on the internet for 1920’s costumes! We are asking all businesses to dress for the era so when people come to town they drop back into the 1920’s. Signs will be put out in front of participating establishments declaring them an ““A Rum Runner Accomplice on the Bootlegger Trail”. There will be a Scavenger Hunt this year and one of the ‘finds’ is to bring in a $19.25 receipt from a participating restaurant. Car Shows are scheduled for the Panther Mt. Inn and the Lucky E Star in Warrensburg on Friday night with the Chester cars traveling to Warrensburg in search of the Notorious Bootleggers Wesley & Gisell. Jazz bands at the Speak Easy both Friday and Saturday night with a terrific Vaudeville Show at the Carol Theatre on Saturday afternoon. Seating is limited for the show and we sold out last year so buy your tickets early (available at Main St. ICP, The Bull House, the Panther Mt. Pub and the Farmer’s Market). The Hub will also be participating this year and the “Tweeds” will be riding bicycles from Brant Lake on Saturday morning to meet the Rum Runners Car Chase over Landon Hill where all will ‘parade’ to the field behind the town hall for some Babe Ruth Baseball. We will be sending out a full schedule in a separate email.
  • APAC: a Shakespeare performance of Henry V will be held at the Carol Theatre on Saturday August 23rd. Admission is $20 – $25.
  • The Adirondack Shin-Dig raised over $5,000 for the church repairs! A great success!
  • Warrensburg’s Largest Garage Sale will be diverting traffic to Exit 25 this year, so the North Warren Townwide Sale should be an even bigger hit! Contact the Chamber of Commerce if you’re planning on having a sale that weekend and would like to be put on the map!

General Board Meeting Minutes: August 8, 2014

  • ATV RIDE on July 26th had 126 riders netting $2,199 for the TLBA. A new check-in spot on top of Panther Mountain was a huge hit, and the event went off smoothly. Cash Prizes of $250 1st place, $150 2nd place and $100 3rd place were given out and 1st place winner Janine Best donated $150 back to the Alliance. A huge thanks to Don Butler, Ed Jay, the Tin Tee Pee Campground, McCluskey’s hardware and all the volunteers who helped make this event a success. Next ride is scheduled for September 20th with proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

  • ADIRONDACK SHIN-DIG being held on Saturday, August 9th, to correspond with the 15th annual Adirondack Yard Sale. Shin-Dig starts at 5 PM where they will be closing off Church Street and “dancing the night away”!!!!
  • THE ART in Chestertown is beginning its Harvest Spirit show on Friday August 8th and is running through Saturday Sept. 20th. If you’ve never stopped by this Gallery of Inspiring Work by regional artists (located on Main Street in Chestertown), you’re missing out on drawings, sculptures, oil paintings, photographs, watercolors, woodworking, jewelry, books and much more! Gallery is open Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM.

General Board Meeting Minutes: July 25, 2014

  • TLBA Benefit Golf Tournament had (9) foursomes participating and the Alliance made around $2,500 from the event. Many thanks to Doug O’Brien, Penni Cargioli, Ron Walker and all the businesses who donated raffle items…. Next year we will probably have the event in June or sometime in the Fall to hopefully generate more participation from the community.
  • APAC: GEORGIE WONDERS ORCHESTRA had about 130 people in attendance and was a great success. Next performance is LAURA ROTH, aWorld-Class Entertainer, Full-Time Professional Singer, Actress and Comedienne, on August 2nd, so mark your calendars. Ticket cost $15. SHAKESPEARE IN THE RAW performances are also scheduled for August 9 with “The Tempest” at 7:30 PM and “Henry V” on Saturday, August 23 at 7:30 PM – ticket prices are $20 – $25 with children under 12 Free. LAST DAZE with special Guest FLAKJACKET ROCK will be performing on Wednesday August 13th at 7:30 PM with a $10 admission.   • Music on Main Street: About 140 people turned out for the Stony Creek Band last week. Upcoming performances are scheduled for August 7:S.L. Smith Band, August 21: Master Cylinders. All concerts are free to the public and will be held on the front lawn of the Chester Town Hall from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.
  • ATV RIDE is scheduled for July 26th from 11 AM to 5 PM beginning and ending at the Tin Tee Pee with cook out following. Proceeds from this run will benefit the TLBA. Call Don at #573-4386 for info!

General Board Meeting Minutes: July 11, 2014

  • TLBA Benefit Golf Tournament will be held Friday, July 18th at Green Mansions Golf Course AND WE STILL NEED TEAMS! Loon Lake Association has entered a team and it would be fun to have all the lake associations compete (ESSLA? Brant Lake? Friends Lake?), as well as local businesses or individuals as we appreciate the support in one of the few fundraisers the TLBA has each year. Cost is $60 per person and includes cart and barbeque. Shot Gun start at 1:30 with barbeque following. We also need raffle items and someone to help organize this so contact Doug O’Brien at [email protected] to volunteer or register your team. Team monies can be sent to Doug O’Brien – PO Box 720 – Chestertown, NY 12817.
  • APAC: GEORGIE WONDERS ORCHESTRA is coming to the Carol Theatre on Saturday, July 19th, 7 PM. From Sinatra to Santana – Big Band Sounds from the 30’s & 40’s , plus music from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and more! $15 Admission – Info at #518-494-4495 or www.adkpac.org .Tickets can be purchased in advance at The Bull House, Main Street ICP, The Panther Mt. Pub or at the door the night of the performance.THE BEATLES concert was a huge success with 192 people in attendance and (2) tickets to the James Taylor concert at SPAC were raffled off netting APAC $211. Proceeds from ticket sales are split 50% to the performers, 30% to building owner for rent, electric, etc. and 20% to APAC for future promotions so attendance at these events is appreciated and its great live entertainment in our own backyard! LAURA ROTH, a World-Class Entertainer, Full-Time Professional Singer, Actress and Comedienne, is coming on August 2nd, so mark your calendars. SHAKESPEARE IN THE RAW performances are also scheduled for August, and Steve Smith is organizing a School of Rock for serious music students over the summer with a performance scheduled for August 27th at the theatre (call Steve at #796-3388 to register). A huge Thanks to Linda Muench and JoAnne Nick for organizing and installing the new covers for the theatre seats – a great improvement! And Thanks to building owner Bob Swan for picking up the purchase cost!
  • Music on Main Street: Turn out for the Celtic Band was less than hoped for so try to attend these free events as continuation will depend on attendance. Next performance is the Stony Creek Band, August 7: S.L. Smith Band, August 21: Master Cylinders. All concerts are free to the public and will be held on the front lawn of the Chester Town Hall from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.

General Board Meeting Minutes: June 26, 2014

  • APAC: THE BEATLES ARE COMING TO CHESTERTOWN! “Across the Pond”, the band, is a live tribute to the Beatles music of the 1960’s, “performing their hearts out, night after hard day’s night”. The band consists of four seasoned musicians and songwriters who, along with the historic setting of the theatre, will bring you back in time and guarantee a memorable evening for all ages. Tickets can be purchased in advance at The Bull House, Main Street Ice Cream Parlor, The Panther Mountain Pub or at the door the night of the performance. Performance is scheduled for Wednesday July 9th at 7 PM. Tickets are $10. Crandall Library has donated a Baby Grand piano for APAC to use at the Carol Theatre and ‘seat covers’ have been ordered and are being purchased by theatre owner Bob Swan (Thanks Bob!!!) Upcoming events include Georgie Wonders 18 piece orchestra on July 19th and get ready to enjoy a performance by Laura Roth, a World-Class Entertainer, Full-Time Professional Singer, Actress and Comedienne on August 2nd.
  • Music on Main Street: July 10: Celtic Band, July 24: Stony Creek Band, August 7: S.L. Smith Band, August 21: Master Cylinders. All concerts are free to the public and will be held on the front lawn of the Chester Town Hall from 5:00 to 8:30 PM.
